Chase Point to offer special Alzheimer’s discussion group
Chase Point Assisted Living in Damariscotta is offering the second of two Alzheimer’s discussion groups, “Understanding Dementia-Related Behaviors,” with Peter Baker, LCSW, program director of the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The discussion group will help explain common dementia-related behaviors and offer effective strategies to help community members better communicate with their loved ones with Alzheimer’s or another form of memory loss. All are welcome to join the free discussion group on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. at Chase Point.
Participants will learn how to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
In addition to Peter Baker, the discussions will be led by Wanda Wilcox, RN, executive director, Chase Point Assisted Living, and Megan M. McCartney, MS, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist, LincolnHealth.
Chase Point also offers an Alzheimer’s Support Group on the first Thursday of every month starting at 10 a.m.
