CTL students place in Sarah Mook Poetry Contest
Two young poets from the Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb placed in the 2022 Sarah Mook Poetry Contest. The contest received more than 1,000 entries from ten different states and Paris, France.
In the age 6-8 category, Allison Philbrick of Alna placed third for her poem “Glory of the Snow.” First place winners receive $100, second place $50, and third place goes home with $25. The Kindergarten Awards are judged by Sarah Mook’s kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Olwen Jarvis.
Lev Martin of Damariscotta took second place for “Spring.” Winners of the Kindergarten Awards receive cash awards to purchase new books for their school libraries. Congratulations to these talented young poets!
The contest was created in memory of Sarah Mook, a Pennsylvania student and young poet who suddenly passed away while in third grade in 1995. Her family created the contest to honor Sarah and to inspire and encourage young poets. To learn more about the contest, please visit http://www.sarahmookpoetrycontest.com.
