Diabetes Support Group to discuss foot care and special shoes
Certified Pedorthist Curi Poulin will discuss foot care and proper footwear for people with diabetes at the Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, May 24 from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The group will meet in the Diabetes Education Room on the third floor of the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus.
Diabetes can cause issues that impact your feet, such as nerve damage or poor blood flow. Proper care, including appropriate footwear, can help prevent common foot problems and/or help treat issues before they worsen. Poulin, who works at the Hanger Clinic in Augusta, will discuss their ability to provide diabetes patients with specialized footwear.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets every other month on the fourth Thursday to allow participants to share experiences and to know that they do not have to deal with diabetes alone.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes and Nutrition Program provides a range of services to diabetes patients and their families. The program has been accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators for the provision of quality services.
