Early childhood educator workshop connects music, mindfulness and compassion
On Friday, May 10, award-winning singer/songwriter Emilia Dahlin, founder of Sing Me a Story, and Kind Mind Founder Lee Sowles, are teaming up to offer a one-day workshop for early child educators, day care providers, and children’s librarians. Music, Mindfulness & Compassion is an experiential workshop where educators will learn playful and innovative practices to address anxiety, trauma, and self-regulation, and to bring more joy back into the classroom.
Recognizing that compassion is the foundation of social emotional wellness, and applying the research linking music and singing to early literacy acquisition, this workshop will equip participants with tools they can apply in their classrooms, throughout the day, with various groups of children.
Music, Mindfulness & Compassion will be held at the Merry Barn, 417 River Road, Edgecomb, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. The cost is $150, and financial assistance is available. Register at merrybarn.com. Contact stephaniemcsherry@merrybarn.com with questions.
