Edgecomb Fire Department fundraiser
Volunteers from the Edgecomb Fire Department were on Cross Point Road on Saturday, Aug. 8, taking donations for the department.
Daren Graves was at the Eddy Road end of the annual 5 mile yard sale put on by Cross Point Road residents each August. Accompanying Graves was his granddaughter Chelsea, Ryann Trask and Karen Potter.
At 10 a.m. the volunteers said they had already raised over $300.
“Every time we think we’re ready to stop, we get another splurge of people giving money,” Graves said. “One man who just retired from a New Hampshire fire department after 54 years gave us $50.
“We’ve had a good turnout.”
At the other end of the five miles of yard sales, near Mill Road, were volunteers John Potter, Assistant Chief Brandon Shank, and Wally Staples.
Graves said the department will be holding a car wash and bake sale in the near future.
