Maine State Music Theatre's (MSMT) 2014 season is still rockin’ with their remarkable season closing production of the high-energy dance musical, “Footloose,” running August 6-23.

“Two full length movies and a Broadway musical based on the same story makes Footloose a juggernaut of a title,” Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark said.

“Footloose” thrilled Broadway audiences for nearly two years. It's a story of American spirit; a carefree city kid is transplanted to a conservative rural town where rock ‘n’ roll and dancing are forbidden. He takes on the authorities, makes all the right moves, and wins the girl.

“Footloose” features chart-topping music including “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out For A Hero,” and “Let's Hear It For The Boy.” The score contains music and lyrics by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford, with additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman.

The cast of “Footloose” will be led by Eric Sciotto (Broadway's “Annie Get Your Gun,” “AIDA,” “42nd Street,” “A Chorus Line” and “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”) as Ren McCormack and Kristen Martin (Broadway's “Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark,” 1st national tour of “A Chorus Line,” Asia tour of “42nd Street”) as Ariel Moore.

Maine State Music Theatre will be holding a free talk back series “A Peek Behind The Curtain: Footloose” at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick on August 20 at noon. Panel participants will include actors, administrative staff, technical staff and member(s) of the creative team. Audience participants will have an opportunity to learn about each member of the panel and ask questions about their involvement in the production. Audience members are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch for the event.
