Falling branch kills man in Jefferson
A 22-year-old Orono man died in Jefferson Wednesday when a large branch broke off a tree and struck him.
Crews from Jefferson Rescue, Central Lincoln County Ambulance and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 12:30 p.m. Dec. 23 to South Clary Road in Jefferson, on a report of an accidental death.
Eliot Lamb was working with Scott MacKenney, 42, of Whitefield, removing a large tree from the property when the accident occurred. MacKenney owns Second Nature Tree Service, which employed Lamb.
It appears that Lamb died instantly.
Orono Police Department notified Lamb’s parents. Officials from the Maine Department of Labor and the State Medical Examiner’s Office will be reviewing the incident.
