The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the owner of a Waldoboro auto repair shop is missing following a fire that destroyed his Route 1 business early Friday morning, April 24.
The body of a man was recovered from the basement of Pinkham’s Auto Repair by fire investigators.
The body was burned beyond recognition and was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for autopsy and identification, which may not be completed until next week.
The business is owned by Jeff Pinkham and his truck was parked inside one of the building’s garage bays at the time of the fire.
Fire investigators say it appears the fire started in the basement.
