Free Drums Alive and Zumba classes in Wiscasset Sept. 25
To celebrate her fifth year anniversary of providing Zumba classes, certified instructor Debbie Speed is doing a “free combo class” on Sunday, Sept. 25 at St. Philip’s Church Hall, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset.
First, there will be 45 minutes of Drums Alive from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m., and Zumba from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
According to the Zumba website, it’s “a total workout, combining elements of fitness — cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.” Speed is an excellent example of the benefits of regular Zumba participation, having lost close to 100 pounds and having improved her quality of life.
Discovering another fun way to exercise, Speed has become a certified Drums Alive (DA) instructor. DA “combines the benefits of a traditional fitness program with the benefits of music and rhythm. (It) fosters a healthy balance physically, mentally, emotionally and socially an it provides an element of fun and creative expression,” according to its official website.
