Heather Hardy and Dave Martin concert June 12
The Damariscotta River Association’s (DRA) Round Top Coffee House will feature the extraordinary talents of Heather Hardy and Dave Martin. Both are well-known within the Midcoast musical community, Hardy for her songwriting, singing, and teaching, and Martin for his consummate guitar work.
Hardy is a singer-songwriter living in Bristol. She plays guitar (sometimes like a stand-up bass) and ukulele, and blends her unique voice with rich melodies, often highlighting mouth trumpet instrumentals in her songs. She is currently recording her new album, “Howl,” with Jud Caswell at Frog Hollow Studio in Brunswick.
Martin's influences include Scott Joplin, J.S. Bach, contemporary guitarist Alex Di Grassi and Spanish pianist Isaac Albeniz. Martin has been guitar accompanist at the Great Salt Bay school for six years, and has recently begun building the guitars he plays. He will perform several of his own original compositions, plus a gamut of finger-picking guitar tunes, including piano rags and ragtime Beatles tunes, Benny Goodman, and some good ole classics.
The stage is open to everyone. Performers should be able to walk up on stage and set up quickly. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. To be assured of a time slot, performers should show up to sign up promptly at that time. Open mic is a series of eight-minute, two-song slots, and is designed for individual or small group performances. It runs from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. with a 15-minute break before the feature act from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Please note that this is the last Round Top Coffee House to be held for the foreseeable future due to work planned for the venue. DRA hopes to reestablish the coffee house when the work is complete. Additionally, hosts Heather Hardy and Jason Anthony are stepping down from the helm after seven years.
Coffee and snacks are available courtesy of Rising Tide Community Market. A plate or two of home-baked goods or a volunteer shift at the open mic earns half-price admission.
Admission is $8 for adults/$5 for seniors and free for kids 12 and under. For more information, call 207-677-2354 or the DRA at 207-563-1393.
The DRA Round Top Coffee House is held at DRA’s Round Top Farm at 3 Round Top Lane in Damariscotta. On-site parking available.
