Holiday celebrations come to Lincoln Theater
Lincoln Theater is pleased to bring several holiday traditions, both new and old, to the theater this December:
On Thursday, Dec. 7 at noon, Lincoln Theater invites you to take a break from the beginning holiday craziness and start the season off right by relaxing and enjoying a free holiday noontime concert with VentiCordi and a Lincoln Theater Holiday Celebration. VentiCordi (Winds and Strings), DownEast Magazine Best of Maine 2017 Reader's Poll Winner, is a musical collaboration between oboist Kathleen McNerney and violinist Dean Stein, combining their love of chamber music with innovative programming that blends wind and string instruments. They will be joined by cellist Eliza Meyer, for this holiday and classical program.
On Sunday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m., once again we find, as the clock strikes midnight on Christmas Eve, Marie’s wooden nutcracker doll comes to life and transforms into a prince! Soon joined by her other toys that have also come to life, Marie and her prince embark on a dreamy unforgettable adventure in this encore broadcast of the Nutcracker from the Bolshoi Ballet. A holiday tradition for the whole family, The Nutcracker sweeps the Bolshoi stage for two hours of enchantment and magic. Along with Tchaikovsky’s cherished score and some of the Bolshoi’s greatest artists, The Nutcracker remains treasure not to be missed.
On Thursday, Dec. 21 the theater starts a new tradition with a free screening the holiday classic, Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” as a singalong at 7 p.m. Celebrate the season with this Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen classic in which a successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. The film will also play also for free in a non-singalong version at 2 p.m.
And get ready for school vacation when Lincoln theater will screen two free episode each morning, starting Tuesday, Dec. 26 of the award-winning BBC series, “Planet Earth”: Season 1. A perfect way to entertain the kids throughout the holidays.
Additional information on all these programs can be found on the theater’s website, lcct.org, or by calling the theater at 207-563-3424. Come celebrate part of your holidays in downtown Damariscotta at the historic Lincoln Theater.
