Ice on bridge prompts Woolwich crash
Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Brett Strout advises motorists to use caution, as the time of year for black ice has gotten under way. Ice on the Woolwich side of Sagadahoc Bridge caused Christie Tarbox, 24, of Arrowsic to lose control of the 2006 sport utility vehicle she was driving northbound on Sunday morning, Strout said.
Neither Tarbox, nor any of her three passengers, was hurt when the SUV then struck the bridge railing; no other vehicles were involved, Strout said.
The accident was reported at 7:47 a.m. Dec. 6. In addition to the sheriff’s office, Woolwich Fire Department and Woolwich EMS responded.
The county has had numerous accidents in recent days due to black ice, Strout said.
