It’s time for theater summer camp enrollment
Heartwood Theater Summer Camp enrollment is open for students graduating grades 5-12. This three-week intensive theater experience will provide young performers with a unique, challenging, and wide-ranging approach to theater performance, culminating in a 35 to 45 minute original theatrical production for public enjoyment.
Enrollment is limited to 20 students, and applications must be received by Friday, March 15. Camp dates and times: July 1-3, 8-13 (including Saturday), and 15-18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with two public performances at 7 p.m. on July 19 & 20. Tuition is $1,000 - limited scholarships available with support from Bath Savings Institution, Cheney Financial Group and Colby & Gale.
Students will practice and apply acting, movement, improvisation, speech, music, mask and ensemble work. Techniques will include dialogue scenes, monologue, poetry, movement, music, mask and shadow work. The text of the play will be drawn from short tales, myths, and poems found in Greek tales, Shakespeare, American and World Literature, providing the canvas for an original, devised multi-discipline performance.
Students will work under the direction of Griff Braley, Heartwood artistic director, with assistants Ryan Kohnert, Heartwood technical director, Aowyn Burbank, recent Lincoln Academy grad and University of Maine student, and others to be determined,
