Jefferson man arrested on Rhode Island warrant
A Jefferson man who authorities claim was a fugitive from justice has been arrested on a fugitive warrant for an out-of-state drug charge.
Gary Wayne Beverage, 40, of Jefferson was arrested June 6 by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and charged with one count of being a fugitive from justice. He was held on $1,000 cash bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail.
Beverage waived his right to extradition and will likely be returned to Rhode Island to face charges related to drug possession. Rhode Island charged Beverage with alleged possession of a dangerous drug.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Chubbuck arrested Beverage at his Jefferson home, as he reportedly had warrants for his arrest issued by Maine and Rhode Island.
Beverage will have a disposition conference June 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln County Court House in Wiscasset.
