Jefferson pianist at River Arts May 17
"An Afternoon with Debussy and Beethoven" will be presented by Jefferson resident Jennifer Ober at River Arts, 241 Route 1, Damariscotta on Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m.
An award winning pianist, Ober has been in love with classical music since starting piano lessons at age seven, continuing for the following 14 years, with an additional seven years studying organ. During her high school years she was awarded the Lincoln Center Youth Award by the New York Philharmonic. The award was given to high schoolers in the greater New York City area for their outstanding music accomplishments.
Ober graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor of science degree in radio-TV, with a minor in music. Her professional music career started at age 16 as a church organist/pianist. Throughout her life, Ober has held this position at churches in the states of Massachusetts, Florida and Maine. She is currently a member of the board of directors for the Cape Ann Symphony in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and the vice president of the Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Damariscotta.
The suggested donation for this musical performance is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with all proceeds benefiting the Midcoast Unitarian Fellowship.
