‘Land and Sea’ opens July 30
River Arts presents the annual exhibition devoted to “Land and Sea.” Juror Eric Glass selected artworks in this robust exhibition that draw inspiration primarily from the landscapes of Maine. The public is invited to a reception on Saturday, July 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. Many artists will be in the gallery to celebrate this joyful show. Light refreshments will be provided for this afternoon of conversation and art.
Selecting from 136 submitting artists, Glass chose the works of 86 Maine artists. The exhibiting artists have translated their interpretations of land and sea in personal and universal ways. This show reveals many aspects of pure nature and the human presence in nature. The wild and primitive, the peaceful and beautiful, and the whimsical and fanciful can be found in this expressive show. “Land and Sea” runs from July 26 through Sept. 3.
In conjunction with the opening of this show in the main galleries, a solo show of Scout Dunbar’s work opens in the River Room. This delightful show, “On the Water’s Edge,” features Dunbar’s recent exploration of abstract mixed-material drawings that exude playful energy and a lighthearted exploration of color, form, and line. This one woman show runs until Aug. 10.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information visit the website: riverartsme.org or call the gallery (207) 563-6868.
