Learn the 10 signs of dementia
Early detection of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia can help people get the maximum benefit from treatments that may help them maintain their independence longer and provide them with more time to plan for the future.
To help more individuals and their families detect signs and symptoms sooner, Mark Pechenik of the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter will present “Know the 10 signs of Dementia” at Schooner Cove in Damariscotta on Friday, June 2 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
A few of the signs include changes in mood and personality, new problems with words in speaking or writing, memory loss that disrupts daily life, and more. It is recommended that those experiencing any of the ten signs should see a doctor.
Pechenik will also explain the differences between signs of dementia and typical age-related changes, which can sometimes be difficult to differentiate.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Karen Westhaver, executive director, Schooner Cove, by phone at (207) 563-4001 or email at karen.westhaver@lchcare.org.
