Lincoln Academy to host virtual prospective student open house Nov. 3
All prospective students and their families are invited to Lincoln Academy’s 2021 Virtual Open House, which will be held as a Google Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 3 beginning at 6 p.m.
This open house is an annual event at Lincoln Academy that helps incoming students become familiar with the campus and curriculum. This year, the event will be held virtually and will include an overview of the admissions process as well as a chance to interact with students, teachers, and guidance, admissions and athletics representatives. A virtual campus tour will also be available on the LA website.
This year, Lincoln Academy’s Prospective Student Open House will begin with an overview by members of the administration and counselors and a student panel. Next, families can move into virtual breakout rooms, where faculty will be available to answer questions about departments, course selection, special education programs, and extracurriculars.
“One thing the pandemic has taught us is that we can still meet a wide range of students and their families in a virtual format. We had a wonderful turnout last year, and had many attendees from out of state in addition to our local community of 8th grade families.” said Hilary Petersen, associate director of admissions. “We hope that all prospective families get a chance to learn more about what LA has to offer, even though we can’t host a face-to-face event this year.”
Families considering Lincoln Academy should plan to attend the Open House, even if they are considering several options for high school. This event is helpful in understanding the wide variety of resources at LA, including 145 total courses, 19 Advanced Placement classes, 30 classes in visual and performing arts, a broad range of hands-on courses in the Cable-Burns Applied Technology and Engineering Center (ATEC), as well as over 40 clubs and athletic teams.
Any student living in a town with secondary school choice can attend LA with their tuition paid by the sending town. LA also accepts tuition-paying students who come from towns without school choice.
