Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, State Police investigate online post
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a threat posted on the internet that references “Jefferson High School in Maine.” The generic threat was not specific as to what school it was actually referencing. The post was not sent directly to any known school. Maine officials were notified by concerned citizens from out of state who observed the posting online.
While the investigation was continuing, as a precautionary measure, two deputies were posted at the Jefferson Village School and the Maine State Police posted a Trooper at Erskine Academy in South China. Lincoln Academy officials were advised; however, no response was needed as the students have been released for the summer.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit is assisting the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with its investigation.
