Local denturist discounts her work for veterans
Kathryn Young is a licensed denturist who practices in Damariscotta. Through life experiences and 21 years in the dental profession, Young feels called to help senior citizens with their denture care needs, and has a special interest in helping veterans. Young’s grandmother and grandfather both served in the military, and in their memory she feels privileged to work with those who have served our country.
Not only does Young express great respect for all of their sacrifices, she wants to help them by extending a 15 percent discount to retired military personnel needing denture care. Since opening her private practice in 2007, Young has discounted $31,866.48 to veterans for the cost of their care.
Located at 748 Maine Street in Damariscotta, Young provides an array of services.
Young speaks of the great stories Veterans have to tell; she sees them as wise and pragmatic, and enjoyable to be around. She has watched personalities change and come alive with new or repaired dentures and feels grateful for the part she plays in helping people to regain their ability to chew and smile.
One incident brings a smile to her face; imagine your dog has managed to tear your dentures into 17 pieces. That’s right, 17 pieces! This actually happened to a client, and Young was able to repair them. She believed this incident to be the worst she has ever seen in the repair side of the business. Her client was delighted at the result, and at the fact she did not have to purchase a whole new set of dentures.
Young has found her calling, and wants to help our veterans with all their denture care needs. For a free consultation or to make an appointment, contact Kathryn Young at 563-3368, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
