Dec. 4, Maine State Police (MSP) confirmed an ongoing investigation related to a site on Old County Road in Edgecomb. Lincoln County Sheriff's Department officers were near an entrance to Schmid Land Preserve the morning of Dec. 3, and had set up a presence including crime scene tape. 

The sheriff’s department declined to comment and directed questions to the State Police.  

“At this point there is no danger to the public,” said MSP Public Information Officer Shannon Moss. “However, as the MSP is actively working to understand the situation, we are unable to provide any additional information at this time.”
