Man indicted for alleged sexual assault
A Waldoboro man has been indicted on felony sexual assault charges by the Lincoln County Grand Jury after he allegedly assaulted a person working in his home.
John Field, 58, of Waldoboro was indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury for charges stemming from a Jan. 10 arrest in Waldoboro.
According to the arrest report, the Waldoboro Police Department requested assistance with a case and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Terry Michaud was assigned. Michaud reportedly spoke to the victim, who was under 16 years of age at the time.
In January, the victim was reportedly at Field's house, when he allegedly asked the victim to go into his bedroom. Once inside, Field allegedly assaulted the victim. According to the arrest report, Field allegedly denied that anything took place.
Field was arrested and charged with Class B sexual assault, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
Field will have a hearing April 13 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse.
As part of his bail conditions, Field is not allowed to have contact with the victim, or any woman under 16 years of age. He was held on $25,000 bail.
