Man rearrested for heroin possession
A man who was arrested in June as part of a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency bust has been rearrested on drug charges.
Dean Feltis, 48, of Waldoboro was rearrested on a Class E violation of bail conditions and Class C illegal possession of scheduled drugs on July 15 by the MDEA.
According to the arrest report, during a bail check-in, Feltis was found at the home of his girlfriend. Agents reportedly found half of a gram of heroin in Feltis’ pocket. Feltis and his girlfriend both allegedly admitted to using the heroin. Both were arrested shortly thereafter.
Feltis was first arrested in June by an MDEA agent and the Mid-Coast District Task Force following an investigation into heroin and crack cocaine trafficking into Waldoboro.
According to an earlier article in the Boothbay Register, Feltis, along with Jeffrey Aviles and Alphonso Belnavis, were arrested in Waldoboro in a house where agents allegedly found 28 grams of crack, one gram of heroin, an AR-15 rifle, 200 rounds of ammo, and $2,500 in cash. According to a release from the MDEA, the drugs seized were worth approximately $3,000.
When agents entered the house during the original arrest, the three men inside reportedly attempted to destroy the evidence and flee out of the back door; Feltis was reported to have been tackled.
Feltis was charged with one felony count following the arrest — Class C possession of heroin.
Belnavis, of New York, was charged with Class A aggravated trafficking and held on $100,000 bail while Aviles, also of New York, was charged with Class A aggravated trafficking and Class C possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Aviles was held on $50,000 cash bail.
Class A crimes are punishable by up to 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine. Class C crimes are also felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Class E crimes are misdemeanors and are punishable by up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
Feltis will have a court date for the Class possession and Class E violation of conditions on Sept. 14 in Wiscasset.
