New ‘Improve Your Peace of Mind’ training starts Sept. 1
Patty Seybold will be offering a free weekly, one hour course and discussion group on How to Improve your Peace of Mind at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoons at the Community Center, Meadow Mall, Boothbay Harbor.
This is a continuation of the Mental Wellbeing discussion group that Patty offered last year. The course is designed for anyone who sometimes feels overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, frustrated, angry, craving, preoccupied, or numb and who would like to feel more joyful, loving, peaceful, calm, present, and content more of the time. The course is based on the Three Principles of how mind, consciousness, and thought actually work, as discovered and articulated by Sydney Banks over 40 years ago. Seybold has been certified as a Three Principles’ practitioner and leads these free weekly sessions. Each session reviews how these principles work so that participants are reminded each week that their feelings come from their thinking in the moment. Feelings cannot be caused by external events, people, or circumstances.
Seybold focuses on a different topic each week, such as relationships, stress, anger, anxiety, addiction, overwhelm, etc., based on the needs of participants. Each session includes theory, videos, and discussion about how successfully participants are applying these principles in their lives. Participants learn how to live inside the Three Principles’ paradigm in order to gain deeper contentment and control over their own feelings. Participants learn how to recognize each time they fall into “outside in” thinking—when they perceive that something that happened or that what someone said is actually causing them to feel unhappy, angry, or sad—and to shift quickly back to “inside out” thinking. Participants are welcome to drop in to try the course any Thursday, and should plan to attend at least five consecutive sessions in order to gain competence in living “inside out.”
The free course will take place weekly at the Community Center on Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Seybold is considering offering an early evening course on Tuesdays. If you would be interested in an evening session, or would like more information, or if you would need transportation to attend, contact Seybold at 633-4368.
