New Wiscasset art gallery opening June 21
Midcoast residents and fellow travelers are invited to celebrate the summer solstice 2019 with artist Ammi Bai Chung at Gallery 87.
Inspired by Midcoast Maine's wild and beautiful landscape, Bai Chung's palette offers contemporary, bold, expressionist paintings of Monhegan, Pemaquid and East Boothbay. But among the coastal scenes, she also included for her first show a stunning bonus landscape of Mount Katahdin, “The Greatest Mountain,” named by the Penobscot Native Americans for the highest mountain in Maine.
Ammi Bai Chung is proprietor of The Sea Salt, a boutique AirBnB in Wiscasset's historic district, and is a graduate of Maine College of Art (1997). During the extended winter of 2019, Ammi decided to add the new gallery space to showcase her work - joining the ranks of talented local artists for which Wiscasset has gained notice.
The show opens Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m., with a Summer Solstice Garden Social and refreshments at 87 Federal Street.
For more information, find a preview of her work on Facebook at Gallery 87 Ammi Bai Chung.
