No way José
Dear Editor:
Do you know the executive director of the parent company of CMP? Or the chief executive of that company? The executive director is José Ignacio Sanchez Galan. The chief executive is Armando Martinez Martinez.
Our power source, CMP, is in THEIR hands, along with a privately elected board, almost all of them Spanish. My guess is they mostly live in their native country of Spain. None of them in Maine. You might ask, what are they doing, directing our energy source from across the Atlantic? Not much. CMP has the next to lowest customer satisfaction rating of any utility according to a national survey. And they have long-standing billing problems, and miserable up-time numbers.
To hide all this, the CMP propaganda machine on TV lies by saying that Pine Tree Power would turn our energy source over to politicians. That’s not true. Pine Tree Power would turn our energy source over to a Maine elected board of directors. Just like our Select Board, our Water Company Board, Our School Committee and Trustees. Only difference is it will be a statewide board.
My question is, would we like continue to have a privately chosen board of Spanish directors driven by profit, in charge of our energy? I say, “No way, Jose!” to that idea.
Instead, I support the idea of a publicly elected board of Mainers who would direct our energy future through Pine Tree Power.
