Open mic benefit for Carpenter’s Boat Shop
Enjoy creative community vibes while supporting The Carpenter’s Boat Shop of Pemaquid at a benefit open mic night, Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Savory Maine in Damariscotta.
Founded in 1979, The Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Pemaquid is a community for all people. Whether apprentices are between school and life careers, jobs and new directions, working life and retirement, or whatever seas of transition they are navigating, the Boat Shop provides a safe harbor in which to set anchor for nine months before setting sail on a new life course.
Apprentices live in community and learn boat building, woodworking, cooking, sailing, seamanship and offer community service to our neighbors in need. They also explore the deep questions of life and spirituality through reading, study, and discussion. Apprenticeships at the Boat Shop are open to any person over 18 years and run from mid-September until early June. There are no tuition fees. Payment received by the apprentices is room and board for work done.
Singers, poets, musicians, thespians ... performer sign up begins at 5:30 p.m. Open mic is from 6-8:30 p.m.
