A rockin’ double bill: The Boneheads and The Holy Mackerels
It’s January and the time of The Boneheads and The Holy Mackerels midwinter reunion at the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor is on the horizon.
Throughout the evening the two groups are expected to join forces on stage, in addition to playing their own sets of music.
On Saturday, Jan. 31, this roots music, folk, rock, blues, country, Cajun and soul playing tribe of seasoned Maine musicians promises to cure a little cabin fever.
The Boneheads, keyboardist Bob Colwell, Scott Elliot on bass, Dicky Hollis on drums and Steve Jones on guitar, are famous for their unpredictable, impressive musical shows which often feature band members switching instruments, powerful dynamic arrangements and outright hilarity from the stage.
The Boothbay region’s famed band, The Holy Mackerels, are guitarist Mark Stover and stand up bassist Arthur Webster, fiddler Paul D’Allesio and Boneheads guitarist Jones playing lead. Local musicians Gabe Tonon and Robbie Coffin fill in for Jones when he's gigging somewhere else.
Tickets for this night of great music in the Midcoast are $10/advance or $15/day of the performance. The Opera House box office at 86 Townsend Avenue is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 207-633-5159. Tickets are also available online at www.boothbayoperahouse.com.
