School bus crash injures four in Boothbay
Today at 2:49 p.m., the Lincoln County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a traffic crash involving a school bus in the area of 364 Back Narrows Road in Boothbay. Lincoln County Deputies along with the Boothbay Harbor Police Department, Boothbay Fire Department, Boothbay Region Ambulance Service and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service all responded.
A preliminary investigation has determined that a 2003 Oldsmobile SUV was being operated south on Back Narrows Road and crossed into the northbound lane striking the school bus head on.
Four people were transported to the Miles Campus of Lincoln Health in Damariscotta for what were believed to be minor injuries. One of the injured was the operator of the vehicle and the remaining injured were school-aged passengers on the school bus.
The school bus was transporting 12 students from the Boothbay Region Elementary School at the time.
It is anticipated that information on both drivers will be released tomorrow in addition to any other information gathered during this ongoing investigation.
Back Narrows Road in Boothbay was closed to traffic for over an hour and a half while the investigation took place and the scene was cleared.
