Singing opportunities with Blanchard-Fleming Duo
Conductor Linda Blanchard and pianist Sean Fleming, married musical duo, have been collaborating in creating choral music in the Midcoast of Maine for over 20 years, leading Sheepscot Valley Chorus, St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Choirs. If you love to sing, one or more of these groups is sure to be a good fit! Read on to learn about singing opportunities.
Sheepscot Valley Chorus is a non-auditioned chorus based in Wiscasset. We rehearse Tuesday 7-9 p.m. at the Congregational Church, Rte. 1, Wiscasset. This year’s winter concert on Sunday, Dec. 2, will feature the joyful Mendelssohn Magnificat in D. Our season kicks off with a potluck supper before the rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. Come join us, and bring a friend! Potluck offering optional — we’ll have plenty! For more information, email Linda Blanchard at lindamaine@mac.com or call 380-2768.
St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is an auditioned community chorus rehearsing Wednesday evenings, 7-9, at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. Our signature winter concert, “Ceremony of Lessons and Carols,” will be on Dec. 7 and 8 - and feature a string quartet. Sopranos and altos should be able to sing with a straight tone, and all singers should have a finely tuned ear and be eager for a challenge. Practice materials are provided for learning music at home. To schedule an audition, contact Linda Blanchard through our website at www.ceciliachoir.org or call 380-2768.
