Specialized care that gets you back to your life
At the age of 80, Newcastle resident Joan Yeaton spends her week days helping care for young children. But when a wound on her leg refused to heal, she worried that it would keep her from the active lifestyle she enjoys.
“I had to be careful. I work with my daughter at her daycare in Newcastle and I was really afraid that kids would bump into my leg,” Yeaton explained.
When it was clear the wound wasn’t healing after three months, Lincoln Medical Partners’ Dr. Catharine Cadigan took precautionary measures and recommended treatment at the LincolnHealth Wound Center in Boothbay Harbor.
After eight visits to the Wound Center, her wound was healed.
“Having my wound healed was a huge relief. It was something that was always in the back of my mind,” stated Yeaton.
The skilled team of wound care specialists at the LincolnHealth Wound Center use the latest techniques and technology to help patients heal as quickly as possible so they can return to their lifestyles.
“Dr. Mark Mainella, Bonnie Rademacher-Flis, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and I worked together to help improve the blood circulation in her leg and give treatments to speed the formation of new skin,” explained Clinical Coordinator Susan Papineau, RN, WCC. “We wanted to help Joan get back to the daycare worry-free as soon as possible,” she added.
“They are tremendous people. They are so kind and they make you feel like you are at home. Sue constantly made me laugh,” stated Yeaton. “I was always greeted and never had to wait—they were right on the ball,” she added.
The LincolnHealth Wound Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments.
