St. Philip’s welcomes crafters to 69th Strawberry Festival
St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, invites craftspeople to join with the likes of basket weavers, hand stenciled items, or wood turned goods at its Strawberry Festival 69 on Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As the Festival will be primarily outdoors, crafters are offered the opportunity, for a fee of $25, to have a 10 x 10 space on the church grounds designated for their use.
For more information or to request an application, please call St. Philip’s at 882-7184, leaving a brief message and a call-back number. Or visit https://stphilipswiscasset.org messaging the Strawberry Festival committee.
The festival’s main attraction, of course, is the time-honored strawberry shortcake assemblage: homemade biscuits, native berries, real whipped cream or locally made ice cream. As in years past, there will also be fresh-picked quarts of berries for sale. Let St. Philip’s people do the work for you – fresh picked that morning.
The popular Bargain Basement with hidden gems to discover, a book table, an antique table, a bake table, hot dog stand, and plant table will be available for some shopping therapy. A children’s area with games and activities will be open for the little ones’ delight. And troubadour Mat O’Donnell will provide music to sooth people as they wander, eat shortcake, munch on hot dogs and buy this or that treasure.
Returning this year post pandemic, there will be a silent auction area, and the fun pie auction at noon. St. Philip’s very own auctioneer, Suzanne Rankin, will once more entice bidders to “go high,” and remember, this is all to raise funds in support of St. Philip’s and its outreach programs.
