Tapestry Singers spring concert
The Tapestry Singers will again collaborate with the DaPonte String Quartet and add a full orchestra for their performances of Mozart’s Requiem in D and Bach’s Cantata 106. The events will take place on Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta.
The Requiem was Mozart’s final composition and one of the greatest works in the classical literature. Bach's Cantata 106 was one of his earliest compositions (at age 22). Both performances will feature chorus soloists Amy Lalime, Sue Hunt, John Fischer and guest soloists Timothy Johnson and David Sironen.
The chorus will be singing for the joy of the music, and in gratitude for the Falconers’ tenure with the group. Tapestry is celebrating the eighth and final year of the leadership and hard work of Harold (Sandy) and Judy Falconer.
Sandy has been a diligent and delightful director whose passion for music is evident in just about everything he does. He managed to keep a focus on music all through his professional life as a physician as well.
Judy has worn just about every choral and orchestral hat there is. She is rehearsal accompanist, chorus alto or soprano as needed; she plays the flute, alto and tenor sax, clarinet and violin makes sure the chorus is equipped with vests, and creates the concert program.
Tickets are available at Maine Coast Book Shop and the Lincoln Theater box office, 207-563-3424, located at 2 Theater Street; Now You’re Cooking in Bath, and from chorus members. Lincoln Theater members receive a $2 discount when purchasing their tickets through the theater.
