“Parasite” - (Rated R, 2 hours, 2 minutes) - In Korean with subtitles - The story revolves around a family of struggling con artists who cleverly weasel their way into the lives of a wealthy, upscale household before their plans are interrupted by a new threat. Kim Ki-taek, his wife Chung-sook, son Ki-woo, and daughter Ki-jeong live in a small semi-basement apartment, working low-paying jobs and struggling to make ends meet. Ki-woo's friend Min-hyuk, who is preparing to study abroad, gifts the Kim family with a scholar's rock which is supposed to bring them wealth.

“Parasite” won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and has already won Best Foreign Film of 2019 from the New York Film Critics and the National Board of Review; it’s on its way to an Oscar. The word “masterpiece” is being liberally used by critics, who gave it 100% thumbs up on Rotten Tomatoes. Final screenings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 12.

“Ford V Ferrari” - (Rated PG-13, 2 hours, 32 minutes) - Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the Le Mans Race in France in 1966. Plays at 7 p.m.  Friday, Dec. 13;  Saturday, Dec. 14; Wednesday, Dec. 18 and Thursday, Dec. 19;  at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.

“My Fair Lady” - (Rated G, 2 hours, 50 minutes) - Classic Film Series -  This eight-time OSCAR winning musical including Best Picture, Best Director & Best Actor) is still as “loverly” as ever! “Steel Magnolias” -  The play is alternately hilarious and touching—and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic chatter of its characters.  Damariscotta Montessori School Holiday Concert - (1 hour, 15 minutes) -  DMS Primary and Elementary students will present both choral and instrumental pieces under the direction of Kaity Newell and Kristen Robinson, heading up their respective groups. Aaron Robinson (elementary music teacher) will act as MC. Donations gladly accepted at the door. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m.

“Fantastic Fungi” -  (Not Rated; 1 hour, 21 minutes) - Imagine an organism that feeds you, heals you, reveals secrets of the universe and could help save the planet. Irving Berlin's “White Christmas” -  (1954; 2 hours) - Free event - Get in the holiday spirit with a special screening of “White Christmas” at the Lincoln Theater! A successful song-and-dance team of two war vets become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. Starring Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen. Playing Thursday December 19 at 2 and 7 p.m.
