Time flies
Seems like we were just putting away our winter holiday decorations and complaining about the snow and now we're buying new pool toys and complaining about the heat and humidity.
Time does seem to pass faster as you age. It's best to make the most of it.
Here at the Register and Wiscasset Newspaper, the first six months of 2016 were as busy as ever. Although we were not given the opportunity to cover another Fishermen's Festival at the end of April — due to the festival being cancelled — our hours were filled with covering a memorable girls basketball season, organizing and publishing our supplements — Summertime, CSD budget report, Home & Services guide, Windjammer Days guide and Dining Guide — and reporting on the daily/weekly happenings around the region. And our production staff was even busier working with our sister online paper, the Pen Bay Pilot, publishing their supplements, the spring and summer Wave.
Believe it or not, July and August are two months where we aren't doing two or three things at once. Come September, we will be back covering the schools, gearing up for the elections and the towns will be starting to put their year in order. The proposed roundabout in Boothbay and the MDOT plan in Wiscasset will probably be talked about more. The Register/Wiscasset staff will also be organizing its 2017 supplements come late fall/early winter.
With the second half of the year now ticking away, it's time to take a little breather, enjoy the weather and any time off to enjoy family and friends, but also be on the watch for news.
