Two thirds

Wed, 07/19/2023 - 8:45am

This week, the Midcoast summer is one third over. It has not been the best, due to the humidity and rain and, at press time Tuesday, the region was under an air quality alert from the smoke from Canada. But by the calendar, we have two thirds of summer left. And that, by itself, is wonderful.

Think Summerfest this Saturday as First Congregational Church of Wiscasset celebrates being 250 and Summerfest being 40. Thank you to those who keep it all going.

July 28, root for a nice evening for a movie and other outdoor family fun at the community playground as Wiscasset continues celebrating another milestone, Wiscasset Community Center’s 25th anniversary.

Want some culture? This town has it, from arts to agriculture and a castle that befits Maine’s prettiest village: Wiscasset Art Walk continues July 27, Maine Art Gallery’s “Working Maine” exhibit runs through Aug. 13, Morris Farm on Gardiner Road is taking part in Maine Open Farm Day July 23 and Castle Tucker is having one of its “Behind Closed Doors” tours July 22.

Check with all these organizations for details and keep checking the Summertime page at wiscassetnewspaper.com and boothbayregister.com for a calendar and more.

Week’s positive parting thought: Roads will not be snow-covered for another few months, at least, probably.
