Undercover operation leads to Boothbay Harbor woman’s arrest
A Boothbay Harbor woman was arrested recently and charged with felony trafficking following a months-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Cheri Bibber, 47, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested on a warrant for unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Boothbay Harbor.
Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Scott Pelletier said in a phone interview Thursday, Nov. 12 that the arrest followed a months-long investigation into Bibber.
“We had undercover agents make buys over the period of a couple months,” Pelletier said. “Then (Nov. 11) she was arrested at her house on a warrant without incident.”
Pelletier said different undercover agents were able to allegedly buy cocaine from Bibber. While the amount wasn't known, Pelletier said that historically MDEA agents buy smaller amounts of drugs when doing undercover buys.
Bibber was arrested and sent to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and held on $2,000 bail.
Bibber was charged with Class B unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines, for a conviction.
Bibber is next scheduled to have a court date in Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset on Dec. 17.
