Visit “La Belle Province” with CLC Adult Ed
Join Central Lincoln County Adult Education for a four-day guided tour of “La Belle Province” Friday, July 12 through Monday July 15. Tour leader Irene Marchenay is fluent in French and has led many trips to France and Quebec.
The tour leaves from Damariscotta where participants will board a luxury motor coach headed to Montreal. Upon arrival meet the Jumpstreet tour guide for the trip and retrace the steps that De Maisonneuve took to the top of the city’s iconic Mont-Royal. Stunning views of the greater Montreal area can be seen from the Chalet de la Montagne. After checking into the hotel and a delicious dinner, experience the Notre-Dame Basillica through the presentation of AURA, an incredible multimedia show.
Day two participants will discover the multicultural communities of Montreal on a sightseeing tour that includes: Little Italy, Chinatown, Bélanger Street, St-Laurent Boulevard or “the Main” and more. The final stop before heading to Quebec City is Le Marché Jean Talon, Montreal’s busiest outdoor market. Once in Quebec City, after checking into the hotel there will be a guided visit of the Huron-Wendat Museum. The evening can be spent freely exploring Old Quebec. Bargain with one of the many artists on rue du Trésor, shop along rue St-Jean, or enjoy a busker’s street performance on Terrasse Dufferin.
Sunday will begin with being treated like royalty during breakfast at the Château Frontenac before taking a sightseeing tour of Quebec’s greatest hits: the Plains of Abraham, Parliament, Grande Allée, Quartier Petit Champlain and Place Royale. Free time in the afternoon will allow ample time for those who want to take a cruise on the St. Lawrence River at individual expense.
Monday participants will observe the beautiful mosaics and a replica of Michelangelo’s Pieta during a guided tour of the Ste-Anne De Beaupré shrine. Then discover some of Quebec’s most famous legends during a visit of l’Atelier Paré, the woodcarving shop. Finally there will be some free time for lunch and exploring Place Royale and Le Quartier du Petit Champlain before heading home.
The price of the four-day guided tour is $1,392 per person double occupancy. The cost includes round trip motor coach transportation, associated ground transportation costs while in destination, three nights double occupancy in quality hotels, three breakfasts, three dinners, all planned visits, activities, tours and admissions, service of a dynamic bilingual Jumpstreet tour guide, and more. Please note the itinerary is subject to change, but any activity change will be replaced with an activity of equal value.
