Dear Editor:

Funds for public boating access is on the warrant again. This year we will vote by absentee or in person on May 20th.

After a few years off due to COVID, I collected over 80 signatures on a petition to put article #40 on the warrant to add funds raised through boat excise tax in the Woodend fund to purchase land suitable for public boating access.   I am one of the lucky ones who has access to the river through my wife’s family.

I so enjoy boating on the river. I feel everyone should have access.  With so much river frontage it seems some public access should be available to everyone in our lovely town. 

With a new harbormaster and new members on the Waterfront Committee there seems to be much more support for public access.  We need to keep setting funds aside for a future purchase.

If anyone knows of or has a piece of property that might be suitable for public access please contact a member of the waterfront committee.

Please vote yes on Article  #40 on May 20th.
