“The Banshees Of Inisherin” - (R; 1 hour, 49 minutes) - On a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, lifelong friends Padraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Padraic, aided by his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavors to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer. But Padraic’s repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences. Final shows 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 1.
“This is [Colin] Farrell’s movie: he gives what is surely one of the best performances of the year. He’s the character you want to protect, and the one who sends your heart sinking when you see him harden, out of necessity, against the world. He gives ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ its soul and its beauty.” - Time Magazine
“Till” – (PG-13; 2 hours, 10 minutes) - A profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, who was brutally lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi in 1955. In Mamie’s poignant journey of grief turned to action, we see the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world. Plays at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2; Saturday, Dec. 3; Wednesday, Dec. 7; Thursday, Dec. 8; and on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.,
“An engrossing Civil Rights drama that could turn its little-known star into an Oscar winner.” – Newsday
“Goldfinger” - (1964 – PG; 1 hour 50 minutes) - James Bond (Sir Sean Connery) takes on Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe) and his henchmen. To save the world once again, Bond will need to become friends with Goldfinger, dodge killer hats, and avoid Goldfinger's personal pilot, the sexy Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman). Two shows only at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 10 – this screening will be introduced by Dr. Jon Cavallero, Bates Associate Professor of Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies.
