This week at the Harbor Theater
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” - (PG-13; 2 hours 41 minutes) - This film has grossed over $400 million and is still going strong at box offices around the world. Now’s your chance to see this critically acclaimed sequel to the first Black Panther, which was nominated for numerous Oscars and won several. Marvel Studios had to figure out how to continue when Chadwick Boseman, who played King T’Challa, the lead role in the original, died of cancer at the young age of 35. Wakanda Forever is a study of the loss of a leader, and how the women had to save it from being taken over by other world powers, and to help the kingdom get through its grief. Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright lead a stellar cast in what critics call a worthy sequel and also a tribute to Boseman. Sets, costumes and superhero action have held audiences in awe. Playing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14; Thursday, Dec. 15; Friday, Dec. 16; Saturday, Dec. 17; Wednesday, Dec. 21; Thursday, Dec. 22 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
"It’s a movie about not seeing beyond your own grief...Every narrative tendril is implicated in grief, from historical colonialism to environmental exploitation to political repression." - Kevin Maher, Times (UK)
