This week at the Lincoln Theater
“Death on the Nile,” opening Friday, reunites the film-making team behind the 2017 global hit “Murder on the Orient Express” and stars five-time Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh as the iconic detective Hercule Poirot. Complete with champagne, gowns, glitz, and glamour providing us with the fun two hour escape we all need!
“Cyrano” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 4 minutes) - Award-winning director Joe Wright envelops moviegoers in a symphony of emotions with music, romance, and beauty in Cyrano, re-imagining the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her — and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian. Final showings Wednesday, March 30 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
“Free - I Know a Man… Ashley Bryan” - (NR; 1 hour, 13 minutes) - Ashley Bryan, the celebrated children’s book author and artist, died on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the home of his niece Vanessa in Texas at the age of 98. “I Know a Man … Ashley Bryan,” the feature documentary and winner at 15 film festivals produced by Richard Kane and Robert Shetterly, has begun to tour Maine theaters in his honor. We are pleased to present this free screening, in partnership with The Waldo Theatre, in celebration of the memory of Ashley Bryan and the incredible impact he had on Maine communities. We hope you will join us. Playing for one screening only, Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
“Death on the Nile” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 7 minutes) - Adapted from the novel by beloved British writer Agatha Christie, Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unbridled passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement.
