This week at the Lincoln Theater
Two extraordinary documentaries are at The Lincoln this week: the Kendal Mountain Film Fest and “Moonage Daydream” the incredible David Bowie big screen documentary from filmmaker Brett Morgen.
“E.T. the Extra Terrestrial” - (PG; 1 hour, 55 minutes) - After a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and his little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien. Final screening Thursday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.
“Kendal Mountain Festival Tour, 2022 - North America” - (2 hours) - After 42 years the UK’s leading adventure film and speaker Festival finally brings the best cinematic adventure stories to audiences in over 50 locations. With the support of presenting sponsors Montane and OS Maps, the Kendal Mountain Tour is coming to the USA and Canada for the first time this fall bringing a selection of the very best short adventure documentaries to North American audiences. “Moonage Daydream” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 14 minutes) - A cinematic odyssey exploring David Bowie’s creative, spiritual and musical journey. From the visionary mind of Brett Morgen, “Moonage Daydream” features captivating, never-before-seen footage and performances spanning David Bowie’s 54-year career. The film includes 40 exclusively remastered Bowie songs and is the first film ever sanctioned by the Bowie Estate, with local access to the artists’ archives. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14; Saturday, Oct 15; Wednesday, Oct. 19; Thursday, Oct. 20. On Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.
