“Gratitude Revealed” - (NR; 1 hour, 22 minutes) - What is your definition of gratitude? Louie Schwartzberg’s latest documentary takes us on an unprecedented 40-year journey into the science and mystery of what makes us grateful Schwartzberg, the director of Fantastic Fungi, takes us on a transformational, cinematic experience of how to live a more meaningful life full of gratitude through his intimate conversations with everyday people, thought leaders, and personalities such as Norman Lear, Rick Kornfield, Luisah Teish, and Alex Grey, revealing gratitude is a proven pathway back from the disconnection we feel in our lives; disconnection from ourselves, our planet, and each other. “Red-Headed Woman” - (1932; 1 hour, 19 minutes) - Next up in the Classic Film Club Pre-Code Hollywood series! CFC Host and film historian, Jeannie MacDonald, will be joining us for an introduction and post-screening talkback. The legendary Jean Harlow delivers a star-making performance in this provocative pre-Hays Code comedy as a charming gold digger who sleeps her way to fortune. Secretary Lillian Andrews sets her sights on her boss, eventually luring him away from his happy marriage to his childhood sweetheart. But instead of making a big splash in society, she is rejected. After casting her spell on a coal magnate, Lillian sets her sights on a French chauffeur (Charles Boyer). “Ticket to Paradise” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 44 minutes) - Academy Award winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made. From Working Title, Smokehouse Pictures and Red Om Films, “Ticket to Paradise” is a romantic comedy about the sweet surprise of second chances. Playing at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3; Sunday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 2 and 7 p.m.
“The Magic Flute” – Holiday Encore (1 hour, 40 minutes) - A Met Live in HD presentation - The Met’s first-ever Live in HD transmission - the abridged, English-language version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute - returns to cinemas this holiday season. Tony Award–winner Julie Taymor conjures a spellbinding staging, replete with a kaleidoscope of color and parades of puppetry in this delightful production from 2006, featuring a stellar cast of Met stars including tenor Matthew Polenzani, baritone Nathan Gunn, and bass René Pape. Playing Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. Tickets: $15 adult, $13 members, and $5 for youth 18 and under.
“Much Ado About Nothing” - (3 hours) - National Theatre Live - An irresistible comedy, Shakespeare’s well-loved romcom of sun, sea, and mistaken identity. The legendary family-run Hotel Messina on the Italian Riveria has been visited by artists, celebrities, and royalty. But when the owner’s daughter weds a dashing young soldier, not all guests are in the mood for love. A string of scandalous deceptions soon surround not only the young couple, but also the adamantly single Beatrice and Benedick.
