Westport Island couple face heroin charges
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) has arrested a couple from Westport Island on heroin charges.
Arrested were Roger Gingrass, 37 of Westport Island for Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs (Heroin) Class A and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Class C, and Alicia Hallstrom, 36 of Westport Island for Possession of Schedule Drugs (Heroin) Class C.
For the past three months, agents from the MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force have been investigating heroin sales in the county. MDEA Commander Scott Pelletier said the investigation showed that Gingrass allegedly traveled to Massachusetts on a regular basis to purchase bulk heroin, then returned to Westport Island where he would repackage the drug and sell it from his house.
Late Wednesday morning, MDEA agents searched Gingrass’ residence at 6 Ferry Road. Agents detained Gingrass and his girlfriend Alicia Hallstrom at the house. Seized from the home were 33 grams of heroin, a half-pound of marijuana and a shotgun. The street value of the seized heroin is $6,600.
Gingrass and Hallstrom were arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where bail was set at $25,000 for Gingrass and personal recognizance for Hallstrom.
Assisting MDEA with the investigation were deputies from both the Lincoln and Sagadahoc county sheriff’s offices, and Bath and State Police.
