Wiscasset seeking econ committee members
After Wiscasset selectmen’s recent nod to Economic Development Director Aaron Chrostowsky’s request for an economic development committee, the board is seeking residents interested in serving on it.
“You, too, can be the conduit that energizes your community through positive volunteerism and dedicated work. The Town’s newly created Ad Hoc Economic Development Advisory Committee has five vacancies,” the town’s Jan. 2 announcement reads. “(This) is an advisory committee that recommends short-term and long-term economic and community development goals, policies, and strategies for the town to build a stronger, more resilient community to the Selectboard. The Selectboard has approved a directive with several critical objectives for the Committee to focus on.”
“The announcement continues: “The Selectboard is looking for individuals with backgrounds in building and construction, business marketing and sales, civic engagement, communications, finance/banking, real estate development and sales, and small business/management to serve on the (committee). The Selectboard liaison, Town Manager, and Economic Development Director will review applications as they are received; we hope to conduct interviews in early February and make recommendations for appointment to the Selectboard at their Feb. 20 meeting.
“If you are interested in serving ... please don’t hesitate to contact the Economic Development Director’s office by telephone at (207) 882-8200 Ext. 8 or by email at economicdeveloper@wiscasset.org and in person at the Wiscasset Municipal Building, 51 Bath Road, Wiscasset, ME 04578 for questions or an application.”
