The Popham Beach Library annual Fort Popham Concert featuring the Bath Municipal Band, under the direction of Kathy Downing has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The original concert date was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Kathy Downing has invited some “younger musicians” from Phippsburg Elementary School, to play the National Anthem with the band. The band was named in 1961 but was formed over 90 years ago. As many as 30 volunteer musicians comprise the band and Kathy Downing has been its conductor since 2001.

This fun, family event is inside the walls of historic Fort Popham, at the mouth of the Kennebec River. Come and enjoy selections from John Philip Souza to show tunes, classical works, and light jazz. There is something for everyone, so bring your own chair or blanket and bug spray and share in the joy of music as experienced in this unique environment. Nothing quite like it! The program is offered for public enjoyment by PBIA, The Popham Beach Improvement Association in conjunction with the library.
