ARTinME opens Oct. 13
The annual ARTinME exhibition at Boothbay Region Art Foundation opens Saturday, Oct. 13 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
This year’s juror is Rockland-based artist Connie Hayes. She received her M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, and Rome; her B.F.A. from the Maine College of Art in Portland; and her B.A. from the University of Maine. Hayes received a fellowship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1989.
She taught at Maine College of Art for 10 years and also served in arts administration there for 15 years, including as interim Dean of Faculty. From 1992 to 1998, she lived in New York City. Since 1990 she has been painting on location through her Borrowed Views project and developing figurative work in her Rockland Studio. She serves as a member of the board of trustees for the Farnsworth Art Museum.

As juror, Hayes will select this year’s ARTinME award winners. Six awards will be presented at the reception: $500 for Best in Show from Sherman’s Books & Stationery; Second Place: $300 from First National Bank; $300 from Conley’s; Third Place: $250 donated by First Federal Savings; Honorable Mention: $100 from the Art Foundation’s board of directors; and a $100 gift certificate at Boothbay Harbor Framers.
The $500 People’s Choice Award, donated by Knickerbocker Group, is presented during the Art Foundation’s reception for its Art in the Square show on Harbor Lights Saturday, Dec. 1. So, be sure to check out this ninth ARTinME show and don’t leave until you vote for your favorite work of art.
Last year, John Vander was awarded Best In Show and Nathan Campbell was the People’s Choice.
