Michelle McCutcheon exhibition opening Nov. 17
“Remember, Reconnect, Restore,” a solo show in River Arts’ West Gallery featuring the work of Waterville artist, Michelle McCutcheon will be open to the public starting Nov. 17. An opening reception is scheduled for Nov. 30, 5-7 p.m. The show will run until Dec. 13.
“Remember, Reconnect, Restore” is an invitation to consider our cultural past, explore our current relationship with the Natural World, and revive balance for future generations. This exhibit incorporates the beauty and sensuality of nature with the creation of leaf-printed silk scarves, framed ecoprints, coiled and woven sculptural baskets, ceramics, organic jewelry, fluid acrylic assemblages, photography, and thought-provoking sculptural wall art.
Michelle McCutcheon of Raven Ridge Studio uses multidisciplinary approach to create her nature-inspired art. She incorporates natural materials (pine needles, river grass, bark, porcupine quills, bone, antler, leaves, etc.) into sculptural wall art, assemblage, ecoprints, and wearable art. Her unique style invites the viewer to forge a deeper connection with the Natural World. Using traditional techniques, such as coiling, weaving, carving, beadwork, and the use of encaustic wax, she connects the past to the present to echo an ancient narrative that reflects the human condition.
River Arts is located at 241 U.S. Route 1. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
