Day after Christmas
I got a flat the day after Christmas and pulled into the parking lot at Grover Auto on Route 1. Before I went in, I decided to pull the spare from the back. It was an SUV tire with a rim, and heavier than I recalled.
When I dragged it out, it landed upright, and, to my shock, it rolled away.
Not a few feet and then circling to a rest like a saucer, but rather, it stayed upright and rolled down a banking as I said, "No, no, no" and then, in an arc, it rolled onto and back off Route 1, down another banking and out of sight.
I could not believe it.
Thank you to the Samaritan who helped me look and who got the tire back from the bottom of the banking up to the roadside. I hope everyone had a better day after Christmas than this, and that we all have a good start to 2019. I will not have another tire roll away from me in the new year, because I will never remove a tire from a vehicle again.
I can still see it as it rolled and kept rolling. It was awful.

A while back, I wrote the positive train has room for everyone. So for the new year, let’s get on board or stay on board with a good thought a week. Here’s the first:
